Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, is one of the major Hindu festivals that is celebrated all across India at the end of Navratri every year. It is observed on the tenth day in the month of Ashwin or Kartik, according to the Hindu calendar.

On this day Lord Rama killed Ravana and Goddess Durga conquered Mahishasura after nine nights and ten days of war. It is celebrated as the victory of truth over untruth. 

That's why Dashami is known as ‘Vijayadashami’. is a festival of joy and victory. The festival is celebrated as a symbol of victory of good over evil.

This year, Navratri began on September 29 and will end with Navami on October 7.
